The Process

At a minimum, a website is the internet profile of your business.

First we talk. No charge. We get to know each other a little. What you do... and what I can do for you.

Perhaps you have a tired existing website you want to replace, new ventures you want to expand or just start from scratch.

My aim is to provide a one stop service from designing and creating the site to an ongoing care plan that ensures that your site keeps fresh and working optimally. All without you needing to do anything.

Discovery

First we talk. What do you want for your site? How do you want to benefit? What ideas do you already have and other sites that have inspired you. Sometimes this can be done in a single meeting or call plus some clarifying emails.

Design

If you know what you want... Great! Maybe you just have some ideas? Not a problem. You can choose from several mockups which may inspire you. I can adapt and work with you to fit your vision along the way to your perfect site.

Development

As not to disrupt your current website, I use a staging environment for all client website builds. You see the work in progress but if being updated your current site doesn’t have to be taken down for us to work together.

Testing

I test in different display sizes.

I tweak where you think is needed.

I make sure you are happy with the site.

Revisions

You will review your site and we agree a time to speak regarding any changes and adjustments you require. If you have chosen the most popular Business plan there will be 5 of these "revisions". Bespoke plans have such revisions charged by time.

Launch

Its time to launch the site. Keywords researched. Basic SEO is done. and the site is migrated to the live server.
You will probably have a revision or two from your plan soon after the launch. Minor tweaks are included in your ongoing care plan

Care Plan

Websites need a home and constant care & maintenance. Your site is fully managed. Hosting, monitoring, updating,performance tuning and backups. All included in the care plan. If things go wrong; fixes, rebuilds and even restores are included

The possibilities are boundless but I make it easy for you. We talk and figure out what you need – taxes, shipping, payment gateways plus all sorts of variations depending upon your specific products and business.  I will guide you through the options leading you to the most efficient and easy to use site for you and your customers.

The cost depends upon any specific extras you require. There is an initial extra for integration and implementation (usually around 50% on top of the site cost). There are also extra monthly licence costs for some of the add-ons. It is easy for these to accumulate, but I will guide you to what will work for your business at the most economical cost.

All the time

  • Host using high performance solid state storage. The latest cloud server technology means that performance is optimised even though demand can vary.
  • Monitor the site - I guarantee 99% uptime (my cloud provider guarantees 99.9% but I need to allow for some maintenance*) keep a watching brief for any urgent security updates and apply these ad hoc

  • Keep add-on software licences up-to-date. All plans include paid premium plugin licences to a value of $300 pa. If you have extra requirements these extras are factored into your plan charges.

Every Month

  • Check for web site traffic metrics and email a weekly report. Any issues that may surface are researched and fixed as necessary
  • Backup the entire site
  • Update to current software versions and test (restore backup and fix if any problems)
  • Measure and optimise site performance.
  • Monthly usage report - new and returning users, pages accessed etc
